 Fr Emil Blaser OP - Executive Director

FR Emil is a Dominican friar with many years of experience in leadership and broadcasting.  He has been presenting radio and television religious programmes since 1976. In 1995 he presented a weekly Catholic TV programme on MNET. A former provincial of the Dominicans in SA, he was also associate secretary general of the SACBC and while there conceived Radio Veritas. He also has many years of experience as a pastor. He is well known nationally and internationally in media circles. He is a member of the Catholic Media Advisory Committee for the SA Catholic Bishops’ Conference. He says: "There is nothing wrong in dreaming. And it is particularly rewarding when one's dream becomes reality."


Olinda Orlando - Deputy Director and Creative Director - Programming

Olinda, a former Dominican pupil from de Montfort Convent, is now, in her own words, a Dominican granny. She is a very talented and creative person. She has been with Radio Veritas since 1998, has done counselling, was involved in Marriage Encounter with her husband Marc, and is very well read. She brings with her lots of challenge, insight and warmth as a sensitive human being and her knowledge and experience of the Church are invaluable to the station. She is also a writer


Niall Collie - Station Manager

Niall has been involved in radio since 1994 and is proud to have worked with some of South Africa’s greatest broadcasting legends at both community and commercial radio stations.  Niall was introduced to Radio Veritas during the early days of the station’s existence while we were broadcasting from the studios in Troyeville.  Niall comes in four days a week and has a wealth of knowledge in broadcasting. In October 2014 Niall was appointed Radio Veritas' Station Manager

Fr Brian Mhlanga OP - Associate Station Manager

Fr Brian first joined the Radio Veritas team as a Marketing Assistant in 2005 before moving on to do his internship with the Jesuit Refugee Service’s health department. There followed a number of financial management positions in various Dominican institutions, and other positions including University Chaplain and Vocations Director in Pietermaritzburg, as well as Parish Priest Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Springs and Project Director at St Martins Centre. He has degrees in philosophy and theology, an MBA in finance, a post graduate diploma in Project Management and he is currently studying to be a CD (SA) Chartered Director whilst at the same time registered for his PhD.

Khanya Litabe

Khanya Litabe - Production Manager 

A convert to the Catholic faith, Khanya is from Phuthaditjhaba, Qwaqwa. Founder and organiser of the former Radio Veritas Choir Festival - a catalyst for most choirs within the Archdiocese of Johannesburg.  Khanya is a talented computer technologist and musician who plays the organ in his parish, St Peter Claver in Pimville, Soweto. He is currently our Production Manager and also presents the daily celebrations programme 'Soft Options' and choral music programme 'Ya Lla Meropa' on Sunday afternoons. He is our musical consultant and our first point of call for any technical problem.


Genni Rogers - Admin Manager

Genni is a most experienced office administrator and works half days, keeping our books and database up to date. She brings a vast administrative experience to Radio Veritas. Her brightness and efficiency make her a valuable member of staff.

Allan Phadi

Allan Phadi - Technical Producer

Allan hails from Orlando West, Soweto and he goes to the St Martin De Porres parish. More affectionately known as Kenny, he completed his audio training with Inhouse Records. He started out on his radio career at Fusion Fm and later met Fr Emil in 2004 at our former studio’s in Troyville.

Mahadi Buthelezi  

Mahadi Buthelezi - Events, Marketing & Sales Co-ordinator

Mahadi Buthelezi, together with the Station’s associate station manager and executive director, conducts Parish visits in the Johannesburg and Pretoria Archdioceses where they create an awareness and promotion thereof the station and receive donation pledges from parishioners. The station has seen an increase in listenership since this initiative began. She has organised events such as Musical Concerts, The Women’s Days, Shepherds on the Green, Father’s Day Mass, the 5 Star Breakfasts for the Elderly, Golf days and other events such as the Christmas Carols Service in collaboration with St. Benedict’s College, which all proved a huge success and brought loyal listeners closer to the Station. Mahadi formed the “The Friends of Radio Veritas” which then organised the first Women’s World Day of Prayer event on the 6th March 2014 at the Cathedral of Christ the King in Berea, Johannesburg where almost 3 000 women attended and continue to attend. She has since forged a partnership with Pulpit Radio in order to reach women on a broader scale. Mahadi spearheaded the awareness campaign in 2014 with the Pretoria archdiocese and continues to forge relationships with the other dioceses in South Africa. The marketing and on-air advertising department also falls within Mahadi’s portfolio. She also takes care of the station's Social Media platforms.


Charles Vezasie- Receptionist and Director's Assistant

Charles Vezasie comes to us from the province of KwaZulu-Natal having grown up in Durban. He handles the various responsibilities of our busy front office and is our executive director Fr Emil's assistant at the station.  From his formative years, Charles has assumed varied areas of leadership, appeared on SABC 2’s then popular breakfast show AM2DAY as well as SABC 3’s popular magazine show Top Billing and been recognised for his work in environmental affairs, arts and culture and the likes. He studied Philosophy at St Joseph's Theological Institute, sat on editorial committees and boards in his tertiary years and has an extremely creative mind, good speaker with an eye for delivery, detail and presentation. With a keen interest in our African continent, the integrity of peoples and a strong sense of justice from his missionary experience living both within and out of the country has been instrumental in the formation of Catholics, brother and sister Christians. Charles has worked with young people and adults in catechesis, human development and spiritual formation for as long as he can remember for which he expresses great dynamism and zeal. Having been involved in various areas of church life he considers himself simply as a missionary, "a sower of God's love" through the gospel wherever the Lord and the church send him in pursuit of the evangelization of all people.


Siphiwe Moloi - Technical Producer & Presenter

Siphiwe "Gabhadiya" Moloi is a young man from the dusty streets of Soweto, Orlando East and is a parishioner and choir member at Christ the King Catholic Church. He studied Information technology and is also known for his motivational talks. He prefers to call himself a Transformational speaker because he aims to transform peoples’ lives. He presents our isiZulu programme, 'Emthonjeni'. He is also an enthusiastic member of the Sacred Heart sodality and a proud father of his daughter.

Simbarashe Honde - Producer

Simbarashe (Simba) Honde is the man behind the Afternoon drive time show 'Changing Gear' from Mondays to Fridays - he produces and conceptualises the nature and direction of the show. He also doubles as a resident journalist, writing and reading the news bulletins. Simba holds an Advanced Certificate in Radio from the Wits Radio Academy, an Honours Degree in Journalism and Media Studies from Wits University (2016) and is currently (2017) studying towards a Master’s degree in the same field, majoring in African politics. Simba has been with Radio Veritas since 2009, having started as a volunteer.

Tiiso Mosoeu -  Production Assistant & Presenter

Tiiso Mosoeu is a music-driven, ambitious young man from Molapo, Soweto. His love for radio stems from the passion he has for music, he obtained a National Media Studies Diploma at Boston Media House,  majoring in radio broadcasting, programming and Public Relations. He joined Radio Veritas as a voice- over artist for the Youthwise show and now has been involved in the Breakfast show with Fr. Emil Blaser.  He also produces and presents a Saturday morning programme from 7 – 9: Blessings Avenue.


Sheila Pires - Producer & Presenter

Sheila Pires has been with Radio Veritas since 2004 and has been involved in Radio since mid-eighties back in Mozambique. Sheila is enthusiastic and passionate about Radio & Television Production; As a Producer Production Assistant in Programming, Sheila produces and presents daily mass (12 pm), Catholic View (18h30, Tuesdays to Fridays) and our Portuguese programme ‘Fala Bonito’ every Thursday from 7 pm to 8 pm. She also puts together the Saturday programmes (Vatican Collage, French Programme, and Portuguese Mass).

Thato Mokoena - CD Librarian and Presenter

Thato Mokoena comes from Garangkuwa and travels about 40 minutes each day to work because he loves working at Catholic Radio Veritas. He has had experience working as a news and current affairs officer at Motsweding FM and studied journalism at TUT in Soshanguwe.  He is an enthusiastic choir conductor at Christ the New Man parish.  He is also a good maintenance person, specialising in plumbing. At Radio Veritas he is responsible for the music library and the initial compilation of music reports for ICASA and SAMRO. He also presents programmes in Setswana.

Lucia Zwane

Lucia Zwane - Database maintenance and administration

Lucia comes from Ennerdale and matriculated at Riverlea High School in Johannesburg. She started at Radio Veritas in 2007 as a temp, to get our database up to date and to help with our research programme. We soon discovered a very pleasant and hardworking person who would add efficiency to our operation. She is now our office administrator and personal assistant to Genni Rogers, our admin manager. 

Nosipho Radebe - News Intern

Nosipho Radebe joined us recently as an intern to gain experience in news reading. She has proved to be a great success. She graduated recently with an LLB.


Nomsa Zulu - Housekeeper 

Nomsa comes from Newcastle in KwaZulu-Natal and has been in Johannesburg for the past five years. She has been employed at Radio Veritas since December 2015.  She keeps our premises clean and is a mother to us with all our needs.
